NEW MOON IN LIBRA: The Circle of Darkness and Light

“As above, so below, as within, so without, as the universe, so the soul… ~ Hermes Trismegistus ~

The New Moon  arrives at 15 degrees of Libra on Monday, October 8 at 11:46 PM EDT.

The cyclical nature of life in all of its facets brings hope. We are in perpetual motion. Each phase of life has a beginning, a middle, and an end. We are swimming in circular motion circumventing the perennial process that both inspires and motivates the necessity for change in all of its myriad forms. The New Moon is the beginning of the circle which has no end.

Here we stand, having navigated the recent journey of this past lunation; different, wise, curious, and energized to begin yet another cycle of exploration. We are standing at the forefront of  a deeper layer of potential for our inner growth. We are, all together, a New Moon unto ourselves. What is calling to you? Where must you travel to reach your your next level of awareness?  In which areas do you wish to evolve? Just as the Moon, we are unto ourselves in constant flux. We will wax to fullness, recede into darkness, and begin anew. At this pivotal moment of the New Libra Moon, we are still in darkness, introspectively contemplating the seeds which we will sow. The ever constant Moon, our beloved satellite of the earth, teaches us that both the light and the darkness return to each other. And so it is with us.

Libra The Scales is a cardinal masculine air sign ruled by Venus. The archetypes of Libra are The Artist, The Lover, and The Peacemaker. Libra’s qualities include equilibrium, love, relational expression, aesthetic sensibility, inner harmony, peacefulness, fairness, partnering, inner balance, and social etiquette. Libra embodies the ability to embody consciously both the shadow and the light. The beauty of Libra is its exquisite expression of balance.

We embody all of these Libran qualities. They reside in a specific area of our natal chart. They are activated for each of us in different styles and manners. These qualities are profoundly available to incorporate into wherever this particular New Moon cycle falls for us. Knowledge of one’s natal chart is extremely helpful in understanding the specific area that is during this time, calling forth.

As with all lunar cycles, the qualities of the sign are always accompanied by other planets and configurations that add both texture and complexity to our current experience. We are meant to carry these other facets into the lunar cycle, thus developing those planetary qualities within the realms in which they wish to express. Of particular importance to this lunation is Venus, the ruler of Libra, which has entered its retrograde cycle. As the planetary ruler of Libra, Venus and the challenges that she faces figure ever more prominently in her expression of Libra at this time.

A retrograde cycle is likened to the concept of the underworld as it leads us into the more unconscious dimensions of that planet, thus into the darkness, where we can embrace our shadow with love and acceptance. This is an essential undertaking in order for our return to the light. Venus embarks upon the underworld every 18 months for 40 days and 40 nights. As Venus is in retrograde motion, our relationships take on new meaning. We contemplate those with whom we are intimate. We evaluate our relational patterns. We look into the relationship that we have with ourselves. We gaze upon the other with new eyes. As with all underworldly experiences, not only must we accept our own darkness, we must allow our loved ones their darkness as well. This is where true love in its myriad forms resides. Libran love requires that we embrace this duality.

Pluto is closely accompanying this lunation. Pluto’s close companionship with the Sun and the Moon intensifies even further the underworld experience. How do we embark upon this without fear? Fear of loss. Fear of death. Fear of each other. Fear of life itself. It is only in meeting our shadow with open arms that we can find our way through the tunnel that leads us to the light. It takes courage, faith, and non-attachment to how we may behold ourselves. No one wishes to face the darker aspects of their character. However, in doing so, we emancipate our soul.

As we navigate both the light and the dark, we grow our love to fruition. We sweep out the cobwebs that have been hiding in the corners of our psyche. We rise from the ashes. We shed our old skin. We gaze into the mirror and look upon our new complection. We are winter. We are summer. We are autumn and spring.

In both shadow and in light, we are equally magnificent.

Libra New Moon blessings upon you.

FULL MOON IN ARIES: The Courage To Feel

“As above, so below, as within, so without, as the universe, so the soul… ~ Hermes Trismegistus ~

The Full Moon  arrives at 2 degrees of Aries on Monday, September 24 at at 10:52 PM EDT.

Our Moon. We are amazed by her. She is ever constant. Even within her ever changing nature; from New to Full to New again, she is present. All that we have to do is look up. If the night sky is cooperating, we have a spectacle that is all her own. Even if we cannot see her; she is there. It is her shapeshifting nature that contributes to the constancy of her counsel.

During a Full Moon cycle, we literally “see the light.” The light of the Sun’s full ebullient reflection is cast upon the Moon; thus, upon our own psyches as well. We are primed for awakening and revelation.

Each lunation is accompanied by fellow planetary travelers, who imbue the lunar characteristics with additional layers of nuance, meaning, and experience. Thus, we are graced with the gift of multi-layered consciousness which in and of itself assists us in accepting and understanding the complex beings that we are. On this particular leg of our journey, the Moon has her own escorts. Mercury, Saturn, and Chiron are all traveling closely with her. Thus, they are companions; not only to each other; but to us as well.

This makes for a most complex array of energies that are bound to bring difficult yet profound matter to the surface. Within such times as these, courage is our guide. As Aries The Ram is the quintessential sign of courage, we have The Ram’s assistance to face whatever rises to the surface of our conscious awareness.

Aries The Ram is a cardinal fire sign ruled by Mars. Aries embodies the archetypes of The Warrior, The Pioneer, and The Loner. The qualities of Aries include courage, instinctiveness, assertiveness, passion, enthusiasm, individuality, innovativeness, creativity and leadership.  When Aries is immersed in the lower vibrations, it expresses as immaturity, impatience, selfishness, anger, violence, arrogance, recklessness, and tyranny. When we are willing to embrace both the shadow and the light of our sacred being-ness, we become primed for true transformation layered with intimate compassion for both self and others in recognition of the complexity of being human. As the first sign of the zodiac, Aries speaks to our primal instincts. As a mountainous creature, The Ram is no stranger to going it alone.

This is a time encumbered with loneliness. Even amidst our loved ones, there is an existential experience of solitary embodiment. It is within the insulation of such aloneness that we have the space in which to allow for emergence of those dimensions of our psyche that have been all too painful to recognize and bear. Despite the discomfort and edginess of this lunation, there is an opportunity to clear out the debris of shadow elements that have only served to keep us rigidly attached to our suffering. In order to emancipate ourselves from such a state, we muster the courage to feel. Feel all that is there. Do not shy away from it. It is not a permanent condition. For now, the pain and emotionality of our condition serves as a wave that will wash us ashore.

Chiron, The Wounded Healer, is right by The Moon’s side, thus bringing the wounded expressions of Aries to the fore. These wounds are ones of identity crisis, fear, and difficulty in being the magnificent individuals that we are. It is where we are called to be true to ourselves within our inherent nature. Whenever Chiron appears, we are catapulted deeply into our soul wound, which ironically, is the very arena of our ultimate healing. Wherever the wound resides, lies our greatest capacity to facilitate others with their own healing. Chiron is powerful; possessing healing gifts, talents, compassion, insight, and ultimately, a befriending of the core soul wound with which we have incarnated.

Saturn’s role during this lunation serves to bring structure, discipline, and strength to the matters in our life that we are tending to, bringing with it a certain melancholic nature, yet one in which bears great wisdom and profundity. Saturn requires us to do the grunt work of whatever we wish to accomplish whether in the outer world or on the inner plane.

Mercury will lighten us up in the midst of all of this heaviness serving as the communicator between the array of archetypes that are upon us. We possess an inner communicator, one in which serves as an ambassador to our splintered selves. Mercury serves this purpose. Mercury is the only God who can traverse the underworld, the earth plane, and the heavens, all three. Mercury ties it all together for us, thus enhancing our self-understanding and the manner in which to navigate this time.

We are only two days into Autumn. The days are still mostly equal in light and darkness. This is an optimal time in which to embrace both the darkness and the light. We have an energetic balance in which to navigate both realms. As A Courses In Miracles says: Darkness is the absence of light. As the days grow shorter, we are inclined to travel within unknown realms. There is tremendous power in darkness. Things are born of darkness. So darkness, we must not fear.

Trust that during this time, we are on a fast track for awakening. No matter what the outcome, we will be served.

In order to become real, we must feel. When we are strong, we belong; not only to ourselves, but to the oneness with all.

ARIES FULL MOON BLESSINGS UPON YOU.

THE ASTROLOGY OF SPRING

Spring emerges as a season of renewal. New life emanates from winter’s dormancy. A cycle of creativity in which we plant seeds both literally and metaphorically, spring facilitates an envisioning of future fruition. It is a time in which the energy levels of mind, body and spirit increase. Light and warmth prevail. We embrace hope as we witness the sacred re-emergence of the active life cycle.

As human beings, we have an inherent understanding of the cyclical nature of life; thus, an awareness of the entry of each season assists us in making changes in our lives as we embark upon another chapter of being. Spring marks the astrological New Year, a major turning point in the life cycle on both an individual and collective level.

Aries, Taurus and Gemini are the spring signs. They embody the energetic principles of this cycle, containing ancient wisdom serving as instruction for our lives. As multi-dimensional beings we now have the opportunity to embrace aspects of self which may not always be available to us on a conscious level. Let us explore our springtime energies and potentialities as we visit each of these astrological signs.

The Sun enters the sign of Aries on March 20, 2018. This moment in time marks the Spring Equinox, also known as the Vernal Equinox. Equinox means “equal night.” On this day, the Sun rises exactly in the east, travels through the sky for twelve hours and sets exactly in the west. Equality of light and darkness preside over the day.

Aries the Ram is a fire sign possessing qualities of boldness, dynamism and confidence. Aries is the life force. Just as the tender shoots must push their way up through the hard ground to create life anew, Aries pushes their way through life exhibiting courage, adventure and spirit. Aries possesses highly developed survival instincts permitting them to pursue their goals without interference from anyone. They are primarily concerned with the needs of the self. The Aries person must learn to cultivate a healthy sense of selfishness in order to thrive, meeting his or her own needs while also showing consideration for others.

Aries people long for leadership. As pioneers, innovators and discoverers, they set their own course in life. Since they are always discovering, they often have difficulty in completing that which they begin. After all, Aries is beginnings, from the beginning of life to anything in which we as individuals endeavor to begin. We each have an area of the natal horoscope that is embodied by Aries. Therefore, we each have a distinct way of initiating, an area of highly developed instinctual awareness in which our very survival depends upon. As Aries occupies the primal stages of the spring cycle, it is here where our most spontaneous and essential aspects of self are found.

Aries children display a lively enthusiasm, which will cover a wide variety of interests. Patience does not come easily for these children. Parents serve them well by understanding this, allowing for safely challenging activities in which the Aries child can display their bravado. Activities that promote the development of courage, leadership and innovation bring many fulfillments to the Aries child. Possessing a strong temper, these children are prone to sudden outbursts of anger, but quickly forgive and forget. They must be gently taught the art of compromise as their own unique way of doing something figures prominently in their interactions with others. Aries children often pose as leaders of the neighborhood. They truly possess a spirit of enthusiasm, exploration and confidence.

As the Sun travels through the sign of Aries we have the opportunity to celebrate our aliveness as unique individuals. A sign strongly connected to will power, Aries represents the very life force. We are reminded that birth follows death. The cyclical process of life always returns to the creative principal. We are infused with the energy of new life. As nature gives birth, we birth ourselves. This is a time to celebrate our passionate connection and commitment to life, creating intentions for our lives which ultimately serve to manifest our heart’s desires.

Taurus the Bull enters our solar consciousness on April 20, 2018. Taurus is an earth sign exhibiting sensuality, ease, simplicity and silence. As the quintessential earth energy, Taurus represents the phase of spring in which nature exhibits the lush fullness and fruition of all she has created. Taurean people have a highly developed and sophisticated sensual awareness. Cuisine, music, art and nature figure prominently in their lives. Thus, their lives are often imbued with beauty. Attunement to and celebration of the senses contributes to their wellness. They are quite gifted in recognizing what is valuable in life, thus contributing their high sense of values to all they come in contact with. These values are not confined to the material realm, for Taurus has strong emotional, spiritual and moral values as well.

As an earth sign, Taurus also embodies conservative and practical characteristics. A certain amount of material security is quite important to them. The accumulation of money and goods comes easily. A sign of great determination, Taurus has tremendous patience and tenacity. This is a sign of stillness in which silent receptivity is as natural as the sun rise itself. It is this divine gift of receptivity, which allows them to experience the beautiful and dynamic aspects of life without the act of doing. Their extremely high capacity for sensual fulfillment fills their every moment. Taurus the Bull grazes upon the pasture of life.

Taurean children express themselves most eloquently as they communicate with the earth. Encourage an attunement to nature with such activities as indoor and outdoor gardening, working with clay and hiking in the woods. Experiencing life in its purely natural physical form enables these children to integrate knowledge. As they are exceptionally receptive to touch, they possess a tremendous need to be held and hugged. The Taurus child will be concerned with the accumulation of and attachment to things. Gentle guidance and instruction regarding the rewards of giving as well as receiving will assist them greatly. As change can be quite traumatic for a Taurus child, they are in much need of strong emotional support regarding the comings and goings of life. Teaching a child about letting go can assist them with life’s changes enabling them to live with more flexibility and openness. Embracing a supreme serenity, they are the peacemakers, serving as gentle and loving guides upon the earth.

As the Sun journeys through Taurus we are blessed with a higher attunement to earth consciousness. It is no accident that our celebrated national holiday, Earth Day, is on April 22nd, only two days into the sign of Taurus. This is the phase of springtime in which we receive nature’s bounteous beauty, a time in which to celebrate being. As the physical senses are heightened, we partake of pleasure. Within this interval lies our capacity to contemplate that which we value, beginning with ourselves, our world and those with whom we share our lives.

The sun enters the sign of Gemini the Twins on May 21, 2018. At this time a much more active level of consciousness is awakened. Within this final phase of the spring season nature is extremely active. There is incessant movement among the creatures as baby birds and mammals leave their nests and wander into a larger world. Bird song fills the air.

Gemini, a quick, sharp energy is an air sign. Those born under this influence demonstrate tremendous wit, humor, communication and restlessness. They possess an ethereal quality, which accompanies them all of their lives. The Gemini soul is the eternal youth. Lightness of being accompanies them as they travel between experiences in search of knowledge, information and fun. As a symbol of duality, the twins embody the ability to perceive the polarities of life and remain as one of the least judgmental of all the signs. Gemini beings understand each and every angle to a situation thus possessing the unique ability to understand and accept different perspectives. Teaching comes quite naturally to them as they have an eloquent command of language and communication.

As children, Geminians are extremely active, restless and mischievous. They develop quite rapidly displaying accelerated development of language and movement. They are experts in the art of mimicking, repeating everything that they hear. There is an extreme love of books and a fascination with language. Gemini kids bore quickly and easily, needing a great deal of variety and stimulation in their lives. As an air sign, Geminis possess strong intellectual sensibilities and a proclivity for abstractions. As communication is of utmost importance to these children, they thrive on conversation. Provide them with reading and writing activities as well as toys which allow for speedy movement. Above all, be watchful of boredom in the Gemini child, for this can create sadness and depression. As they love to expound upon their ideas, they need instruction in how to listen to others. And as their minds are so very active, they need to cultivate the ability to focus and concentrate. Gemini children remind us of the expansiveness of life, instructing us with humor, wit and love.

While the sun is in Gemini we are reminded to embrace lightness of being. There is a sense of freedom, which accompanies us. This is a prolific period to process thoughts and feelings, journal them and ultimately communicate honestly, openly and lovingly to the significant beings in your life.

Spring, season of rebirth, invigorates, inspires and invokes, illustrating that in the vast scheme of things we are the created and the creators.

PISCES FULL MOON ECLIPSE: EMOTIONAL ILLUMINATION

The Full Moon Eclipse arrives at 24 degrees of Pisces on Friday, September 16 at 3:05 PM EDT.

At this time, a pinnacle moment of powerful and immense emotional depth is upon us in which we are imbued with heightened awareness and the ability to embrace irrevocable change. During a full moon cycle and most especially during a lunar eclipse, our psyches are primed for bringing into consciousness that which was hidden from view. We discover hard truths. This recognition paves the road to our expansion and evolution.

subcosmic-full-moon-pisces-september-2014-supermoon

Pisces the Fish is beckoning us to dive deeply within our emotional life. What appears as pain, complexity and turbulence is serving to awaken us. This is a moon of deep and intricate emotional healing.

Feelings abound. In order to heal, we must feel.  While intense emotion can seem overwhelming, it is paramount to find the time and space in which to feel and express our emotions, for this Moon is clearing out ancient emotional imagery which has only served to block us on our path to happiness and fulfillment. We emerge from a realm of fear to a place of faith. A new emotional milieu is on the horizon.

The self is comprised of multiple dimensions. No sign is better able to speak to this than Pisces, the quintessential sign of emotion, cosmic consciousness, multi-dimensional reality and spiritual expansion.

Pisces is a mutable water sign, ruled by Neptune. Oceanic in nature, Pisces encourages and inspires us to dive deeply into the sea of emotion. The qualities of compassion, empathy, sympathy, sensitivity, creativity and spirituality resonate for us. We are endowed with receptivity and the ability to see where grace shows up in our lives, where we enact grace upon others and where the magical threads of humanity weave an intricate pattern of perfection.

Wherever Pisces resides in your chart is where you are especially otherworldly. There is exquisite sensitivity and tenderness. It is an area of boundlessness. There may be uncertainty and confusion within this realm, for it is not a worldly realm. It is an area in which self-compassion is essential. This exact spot speaks to the nature and quality of our spiritual life. The full moon eclipse will illuminate this sector.

What area of your life is deserving of compassion? Are you treating yourself with kindness and sensitivity? Are you extending these qualities to others? Can you forgive yourself? Can you forgive another?  Do you need to express your feelings to yourself? Do you need to express your feelings to another? What is your relationship to God, The Divine, Source, Higher Power?

Pisces’ realm is quite mystical. Boundaries of time and space disappear as we commune with cosmic consciousness. When Pisces is about, we are called upon to dialogue with The Divine. Our hearts are more fully open at this time. We recognize our own vulnerability as well as the vulnerability of others. In essence, we resonate with the human condition while embracing ourselves as spiritual beings.

As Pisces has a proclivity for carrying the weight of the world’s sufferings, we are imbued with heightened sensitivity. The woes of the collective are most readily heard and felt at this juncture. Most challenging for Pisces is walking with an open heart, while not allowing oneself to become inundated with the sorrows of the planet.

Pisces reminds us that genuine compassion for self is paramount to walking compassionately in the world. By cultivating compassion for self and others we contribute peace and healing to humanity at large.

We are ready to heal. We are ready to evolve. It is time to lighten the load.

Pisces Full Moon Blessings Upon You.

VIRGO NEW MOON SOLAR ECLIPSE: DIVINE PERFECTION

The New Moon Solar Eclipse arrives at 9 degrees of Virgo on Thursday, September 1 at 5:03 AM EDT.

During a New Moon, the feminine and the masculine energies merge as balanced consciousness. During these most auspicious times when seeds of intention stir anew, the moon is hidden from view.

Solar Eclipses are auspicious junctures in which we are catapulted from our comfort zone into a change cycle, one which only serves our highest good no matter what the appearance. During such times, we are presented with a sacred portal in which we are granted access. Upon stepping through, we set foot upon the next stage of our soul’s journey.

Wherever Virgo resides within our chart,  we will encounter exhilaration and trepidation forming a partnership of  divine cooperation as we journey ever more fully toward our soul’s perfection.

At this time, Virgo the Virgin is permeating the collective consciousness with the desire to hone our inherent gifts in the spirit of service to each other. The universal ticker tape is flashing news relating to themes of service, work, health, improvement and perfection. We are reminded of the sacredness in mundane matters.

Virgo is a feminine mutable earth sign, ruled by Mercury. Prominent archetypal themes for the sign of Virgo include The Servant, The Martyr, The Analyst,  The Perfectionist and The Hermit. While this sign is characterized by purity, the true definition of the word “virgin” is “complete unto oneself.” We are thus graced with enhanced awareness of our quiet strength, for Virgo contains a high measure of personal independence. Virgo reminds us that in order to assist others, we must first assist ourselves; in order to guide others, we must navigate within.

Do you long to contribute in service? What do you deeply care about? Which area of your life is being honed and perfected? How can you best serve your body? Where do you reside in quiet joy? How can you accomplish a small task with great love?

As I commune with the omnipresent Virgo consciousness, my heart is expanded by thoughts of the Virgos in my life. They tread lightly upon the earth. Their heightened perception is ever attuned to what is needed in a given moment. They are guardian angels in human form. Quiet, unassuming, humble, hard on themselves and always seeking ways in which to be of practical assistance to others, they do not possess a clue to the magnitude of their essence.

Wherever Virgo is in your chart, it is where you are keenly calibrated to make a difference. It is this very area of your chart where you will see profound change occurring at this time. Embrace it with kindness to self, the kindness of Virgo.

Remain vigilant. Practice unconditional love. Grant a favor. Praise your body. Honor your work. Take care of details. Banish worry. Embrace the process.

Virgo New Moon Blessings Upon You.

One can give nothing whatever without giving oneself—that is to say, risking oneself. If one cannot risk oneself, then one is simply incapable of giving.

Full Moon in Capricorn: Making the Ascension

capricorn-sea-goat-cardThe Full Moon reaches it’s exactitude at 6:38 PM EDT today, July 19th, 2016 at 27 degrees of Capricorn The Sea-Goat. For each and every one of us, this moment is casting a luminous spotlight onto some area of our lives, as is revealed in the natal chart. Each month, The Full Moon enters an area of our lives providing us with an opportunity to awaken within that specific realm. As the Moon is reflecting the light of the Sun, we are imbued with full spectrum consciousness. We are given the ability to see into the darkness. A pinnacle time for revelation is upon us.

At this time, Capricorn The Sea-Goat is beckoning to us. Capricorn is an earth sign, ruled by Saturn. The qualities of discipline, devotion, discipleship, order and accomplishment resonate for us. What have we been longing to express in the outer world? In what areas of our lives do we seek greater daily devotion and discipline? What truly matters to us? What do we wish to achieve?
Each month, the Full Moon is accompanied by a planetary entourage, thus energizing the sign it is in, bringing in other influences. Yes, Capricorn is upon us. However, the Full Moon is being squared by Uranus, ruler of Aquarius. Uranus is The Great Awakener. Turbulent energy is present. Revolution is upon us. We are witnessing this in the outer world. Many are feeling this in their personal realm. Often what is reflected in the outer world is finding expression on the internal planes of our being as well. As we embrace tectonic shifts within our own lives, as we make our own personal breakthroughs, we assist the world at large.

In facing these life changes, we are greeting our authentic selves as spiritual beings having a human experience. We are honing in on that which is essential, that which expresses our essence.

Take some time to gaze upon the Moon tonight. Bask in her light and heal.

Scorpio New Moon: Facing the Shadow

astrologersmedlook3All of life is cyclic. There are cycles and cycles within cycles. There is Divine order in the cosmos. We are a microcosm of this magnificence. Thus, we are Divine order.

There are countless auspicious moments in which to begin anew. We are presented with opportunity to consciously direct our attention to those realms of the psyche which have been hiding from us, those areas of self which are difficult to fathom. This deeply buried psychic material offers us tremendous occasion for evolution and transformation. Beneath that which we reject within ourselves, lies gold and opulence of buried treasure.

The Sun has completed his journey through Libra and has stepped through the gateway of the dark and liquid milieu of Scorpio. Our collective ego is shifting consciousness from air; intellectual, social, communicative, compromising and relational, to that of water; emotional, mystical, private, intense, and empathic.

Following the Sun’s entry into Scorpio, the Moon is close behind. Today they form a sacred union. The marriage of Sun and Moon each month portends birth. We have embarked upon another journey within our psyches. As Sun and Moon emerge into Scorpio, they are joined by Mercury, forming an exquisite trio. Thus, we have an added dimension to the Scorpion task before us.

Essence, emotion and language are submerged. They are diving for authentic power. When they resurface, we may not recognize them.

Each astrological sign expresses within a wide range of potentiality. There is the evolved and light filled manifestation and there is what Jung termed “the shadow” realm of each sign. We are resonating with various levels of expression within our own horoscope. We experience areas of our psyche that flow as well other less tangible aspects of self which remain hidden, and therefore undermining.

Scorpio is the shadow. Darkness is where Scorpio resonates. Scorpio invites us to the underworld providing a chariot of courage. The Scorpion is our guide. Transformation is the destination.

The new moon has arrived in your natal chart in an area beckoning for release. The time upon us is potently magical. Scorpio is the alchemist who transforms and transmutes.

Take a walk in the cemetery. Commune with the invisible. Feel the scary places. Dance with the devil. Stand in your power. Journal your secrets. Embrace the phoenix. Gaze into the mirror and lift the veil.

“Through the gateway of feeling your weakness lies your strength;
Through the gateway of feeling your pain lies your pleasure and joy;
Through the gateway of feeling your fears lies your security and safety;
Through the gateway of feeling your hate lies your capacity to love;
Through the gateway of feeling your hopelessness lies true and justified hope;
Through the gateway of accepting the lacks of your childhood lies your fulfillment now.”

The Sun’s Journey: The Astrological Significance Of Summer

Summer arrives fully clothed. Lush and magnificent, she is the manifestation of all we envisioned during springtime. The growth cycle is complete. We now embrace the magnificence of life’s fruition. We are imbued with nature’s splendor. Senses are heightened. Life becomes slower. A profound time to relish in receptivity and gratitude, we commune with the earth and each other perhaps more completely than any other time of the year.

Each season contains within an astrological trio or trinity. This astrological procession fulfills yet another dimension of consciousness. Within the system of numerology, 3 denotes synthesis. Thus each season presents multitudinous opportunities for recognizing, integrating and expressing energetic prinicples which may not be available to us during other times of the year.

Cancer, Leo and Virgo are the summer signs. Inherent within each lies significant archetypal themes and patterns, awareness and expression of which assists us profoundly as we journey toward realization of self and life. These gifts of consciousness manifest sequentially, beginning with emotional attunement, creative self-expression, and practical service to each other.

The Sun enters the sign of Cancer on June 21, 2019 at 11:55 AM EDT. This precise moment in time marks the Summer Solstice, the pinnacle of the Sun’s northern journey, the longest day of the year. Solstice means standing-still-sun. We are graced with a prominent light force that assists us in clarity of consciousness. From this point we begin the slow journey towards increasing darkness, where the interior of our lives is once again the primary focus as the days become shorter. The summer solstice is known from ancient times as Midsummer’s Eve. This sacred pagan holiday was celebrated in recognition of the nature deities and spirits, felt to be ever more present as the visible and invisible realms temporarily merge as one. This prolific interval allows greater access to the magical mysteries of the universe.

Cancer the Crab is a feminine water sign containing qualities of sensitivity, nurturance, protectiveness and tenacity. Also know as Moonchild, Cancer represents the divine feminine, The Great Mother, the primordial and instinctual depths of feeling, emotion and matriarchal consciousness. Considered the most emotionally sensitive of all the signs, Cancer possesses tenderness as well as tenacity. The crab in nature exhibits a tough shell surrounding a tender and vulnerable interior. The protection of self is inherent to the Cancerian nature, a sense often demonstrated by their tremendous need for home, family and security. As they are so receptive and attuned to the underpinnings of human needs within any environment, it is essential that they have a safe and comforting home in which to retreat from the world.

Cancerian people possess a nature of great fluidity and fluctuation. As they are ruled by the moon, they are greatly affected by this heavenly body’s many changes throughout each day; thus, they are often deemed as possessing a moodiness of temperament. Attunement to the cycles and phases of the moon assists them greatly. While they commune with all of life as a nurturer, it is imperative that they receive nurturing as well.

Children born under the sign of Cancer are among the most sensitive of souls, exhibiting a heightened and sophisticated attunement to those around them. They display an instinctual caring and compassionate nature. Possessing a tremendous need for belonging, home and family are of vital importance. As they are wounded quite easily, gentle communication is advised. Moonchildren have difficulty in separating from loved ones. They can sometimes cling to their parents as abandonment is felt easily by them. A healthy and loving home environment, one which constitutes strong emotional bonding among family members will assist them greatly as they begin to venture into the world on their own. Activities that promote nurturance, are what make these little people most happy. Assisting them with positive nurturing skills through gardening, pet care or assisting with younger siblings greatly enhances their self-esteem.

When the Sun is in Cancer we are imbued with the gift of receptivity. This is a time when feminine consciousness is elevated, a time of contraction, where we pull our energies inward and reflect upon the needs of self and other. We are graced with a consciousness that greatly assists us in accessing our deep emotional nature. Communing with loved ones, nurturing ourselves and our environment, and opening to a divine presence are all worthy intentions as the sun embraces this most potent lunar period.

Leo the Lion arrives on July 22, 2019 at 10:55 AM EDT. As a masculine fire sign, Leo is the quintessential emblem of self-expression. Radiant, warm, exuberant, creative and playful, these dynamic characteristics are accompanied by a desire to be important, recognized and applauded. As natural born leaders, they possess an inherent magnetism and charm. The sun figures prominently for Leonine persons as it is their ruling planet. Leos want nothing more than to shine!

While Leo is dynamic and expressive, there can be a tendency toward willfulness, childishness and tyrannical behavior. The ego is simultaneously strong and delicate. A Leo who feels unappreciated or unrecognized tends toward unpleasant behaviors. Paramount to their well being is creativity, generosity and self-expression for it’s own sake without the expectation of applause and admiration for their deeds and accomplishments. Leos are the perpetual children of the universe. Keeping the company of small children assists Leos with well being, as this offers them an exceptional outlet for expressing these childlike qualities.

The Leo child is gregarious, dynamic and charming. They exude warmth of personality and exuberant magnetism. Little Leos possess natural dramatic flair as well as a taste for the finer things in life. Positive affirmation of their sense of self is important to them. The withholding of praise can be quite destructive for a Leo child. Encourage activities that allow for leadership, recognition and self-expression. Theater, dance, art and creative writing are exceptional activities in which they can participate. With this, gentle-hearted guidance is needed as they reckon their relationship to power, allowing others to share center stage with them. Mostly, your Leo child can teach you how to play!

As the sun journeys through Leo, the creative instinct is infused with energy and inspiration. It is an optimum time to embrace our individuality on a most personal level. Often we do not allow for our true light to shine. Leo reminds us that our pure essence is welcome in the world. When we allow ourselves to shine, others shine as well.

A rather shy and reticent energy, Virgos are uncomfortable in the limelight. Possessing a keen eye for detail, they are known for their discriminating abilities when gathering, analyzing and dispersing information. These exceptional intellectual abilities lend themselves to detail, structure and organization.

Virgos are here to serve and participate with others in assisting with the practical application of knowledge. They are often found in the helping and health professions. The Astrological Significance of Spring
